Join Our Team!
Invest Appalachia (IA) is growing our team! In 2025, we’re excited to transition several key roles from contracted positions to full-time team members, marking an important step in our growth.
We’re seeking talented individuals to join us in advancing our mission. Two roles – a Director of Investment and an Investment Associate – will be dedicated to the management of the Invest Appalachia Fund and driving our investment strategy. A third role – a Strategic Communications Manager – will be focused on strengthening external communications about IA’s work and partners, as well as internal communications systems.
IA offers a competitive salary and benefits, including health insurance, PTO, and professional development opportunities. Candidates with a strong commitment to community-driven development and a passion for economic revitalization in the region are encouraged to apply.
Please see a summary for each of the positions below, as well as links to the detailed position descriptions.
Background on Investment Management Roles
The Director of Investment and Investment Associate positions will gradually take on responsibilities currently managed under our sub-advisor contract with Locus Impact. Since 2021, Locus has partnered with IA to provide key technical capacity that allowed us to design, structure, and launch the IA Fund in an accelerated startup phase. Following the IA Fund’s launch in 2022, Locus has provided core portfolio management, pipeline coordination, due diligence management, and contractor oversight functions, helping us to streamline and standardize operations.
Now, with the successful completion of the IA Fund capital raise earlier in 2024, Invest Appalachia is ready to bring these critical fund management functions in-house in 2025 through the addition of two full-time investment management positions. Locus will support IA’s hiring and onboarding process for these positions and work to ensure a smooth transition in IA Fund operations and relations with clients, partners, and investors, providing support on an as-needed basis thereafter.
This milestone reflects the strength of IA and Locus’s transformational partnership and the significant progress we’ve achieved together. We will continue working together to advance our aligned missions, including with the addition of Deb Markley, Locus Executive Director of Community and Sector Partnerships, to the IA Board of Directors.
